About

My name is Jeff Vaughn. In 2014, I quit my job, sold or gave away my belongings, and answered the call to be Salt and Light to the Subanen tribe in the Philippines as God’s servant. I packed my bags and headed out to an island in the Philippines I had never been to - the island of Mindanao.

We started a simple children's outreach - sharing Bible stories and feeding the children at a village called Campo Dos. We expanded the outreach to include another village - Ligiran.

As we solidified our relationship at Campo Dos, we became stakeholders at the elementary school - Benigno Aquino Elementary School. We were then invited to become stakeholders at Titik Elementary School.

On one of my visits to Campo Dos, the Holy Spirit drew my attention to a girl that was married already at age 14. I also found out most boys work on the family farms. Unlike in the U.S., most of the youth in these mountains only finish elementary school. It is a big achievement for families if their children graduate high school and an even bigger achievement if they graduate from college. This broke my heart and knew it broke God’s as well. I began to pray about it; asking how I could intercede and help in the future. The Holy Spirit led me to start a junior high and high school scholarship program for the Subanen youth.

A few years later we started the Salt and Light scholarship program with four boys from Titik. By the next school year we had expanded to nine scholars. Today we are up to 20 with 12 on a waiting list.

We have bought land near the school and are taking donations to build the first phase of our Salt and Light Dorm.

Since we are called to be Salt and Light to the Subanen community, we continue to have children’s outreaches. We also continue grocery distributions to the children, elderly, and pastors of the tribal churches. Additionally, we help with medical needs and various other needs.
